Charlotte Bank of Mecklenburg $2 April 1, 1875
Grade:
VF
The Bank of Mecklenburg, a state bank, opened in 1869 and was the only Charlotte banking house that did not survive the Depression in the 1870s. Thomas W. Dewey signed this note as cashier, but also served the bank as president. Both the cotton picking and locomotive vignettes, seen on other Obsoletes, are found on this rare note.
