Top Pop January 26, 1776 New Hampshire Rarity

NH-155 $3 January 26, 1776
Grade: PMG XF 40     PMG
An utterly rare note in the absolute sense but even more astoundingly rare in this state of preservation and without any problems. This is the first Daniel Fowle issue and not to be confused with the scarce, yet somewhat more available, June 28, 1776, issue. Both grading services have combined to grade a whopping seven notes for this entire issue across all denominations. This is easily the Top Pop $3 note at both services combined. Only a $5 note graded PMG AU 58 is better for any denomination from this series. The only other examples we have seen from this series any time recently were a couple of Apparent graded VF/XF notes which realized an average of around $4,000 each. There was also a $2 note, graded PMG VF 25, which brought over $5,500. This note is far superior to any of the aforementioned examples and in all likelihood will hammer down for a five-figure price, leaving its new owner with bragging rights for this trophy Colonial.
Current Bid: $ 4,500.00
