Incredible Serial #1 Syracuse Uncut Sheet
National Bank Notes > New York
Syracuse, Lincoln NB & TC, 13393
Fr. 1800-1 $5 1929T1
Grade:
PCGS Ch. Abt. New 58 PPQ
An incredibly desirable Type 1 sheet with all six notes obviously bearing serial #1. This was only one of six national banks in New York to issue solely under a trust title. While there are other #1 sheets listed on the bank, none have ever shown up in a public auction format but for a Type 1 $10 sheet that was last seen in one of CAA's first sales in 1990. Most individual examples that we know of grade somewhere around the VF grade but not really much better than that. From the looks of it a light corner bend in the upper right corner appears to be all that separates this sheet from a near Gem grade as the other five #1 notes look as if they would trim to '64' graded notes. A sheet that should be worth more as a whole than as a sum of its parts, and considering that nice uncirculated #1 notes would be worthy of a solid four-figure price who knows where this highly coveted New York sheet will land.
