Rare 50 Pound Denomination
Colonial Currency > South Carolina
SC-127 50 Pounds March 6, 1776
Grade:
PCGS Apparent VF 20
A rare high denomination note with a mere printing of 3,700 and very few survivors. This issue was authorized by the Second Provincial Congress of South Carolina. Bright and very well margined, with good detail and bold signatures. Auction appearances of this denomination are usually years apart, with the last a PCGS Apparent XF 40 that sold for over $3,000 in 2014. This note is not quite up to that standard but it shouldn't be too far off. PCGS notes there are splits, damage, repairs, design redrawn.
