At first glance this appears to be a typical 1778 codfish note that has a lower left quadrant restored. In fact it is from the first codfish issue of 1776, an issue that is prohibitively scarcer by comparison. The 1778 notes have lots of sheets that have been cut over the years to produce a plethora of high-grade pieces. This 1776 issue had no such luck and any AU or CU note is quite rare. In recent years a New 62 PPQ note sold for over $4,000 and an Apparent XF 45 sold for $1,000.
