G82b. May 1, 1861. A beautiful early Civil War era note. Sailors and women on dockside at left; dogs play in oval at top center. Orange background and protectors. Beautiful signatures of Williams and Jones, Cashier and President. Banknotes from this issuer are hard to find as the bank converted to national status in 1865 as the Chemical National Bank of New York and redeemed its older circulating bank notes.
