The last time a serial #1 Battleship appeared at auction was when we sold the Dallas #K1A in the 2002 Memphis sale. That is a lifetime in the currency field. Certainly, it is long enough for a collector to begin, build a great collection and sell out, and never get a shot at such an important note. So be thankful that this piece is once again available and bring your best to bear. The note is well-centered and downgraded solely, I believe, because of a tiny margin split at the bottom that is still clear of the design. Ten years ago this note brought over $17,000 and it's worth more today.
