This bank issued notes under three different titles. Chartered in 1865 as the Somersworth NB of Somersworth, the bank issued a large number of First Charters over a period of twenty years. It then took this second title, using the town name Great Falls, under which only Brown Backs were issued. This second title is very scarce with just four recorded specimens. This is the sole $10 Brown Back. The most recent sale of a note with this title was nearly ten years ago when a similarly graded $5 brought $8,050 at auction. Excellent pen signatures.
