Lot #2645 - Francestown, First NB, 576

FIRST TIME OFFERED

National Bank Notes > New Hampshire

Francestown, First NB, 576
Fr. 387 $2 Original
Grade: VG
This small village in Hillsborough County saw the establishment of this single national bank in November 1864. In its 27 year life, it issued First Charter notes and a few sheets of Brown Backs. Of that issue, only seven examples remain today. More importantly however, is the fact that not a single note has crossed the auction block in all the time Track & Price has been compiling data. It is possible that many of those notes are in institutional hands. At the very least, strong collector hands. So here is your chance to add a one-bank town that never turns up. Well used, but fully intact with some minimal fraying on the edges. The Cashier's signature, that of Mark Batch, is quite clear. The President's signature has faded with time.
Current Bid: $ 14,000.00

Estimate: ($ 7,500.00 - $ 12,500.00)
