Claremont was first settled in 1762 and saw rapid growth through the 1800s. However, by the end of the large size note era, the population had ceased to grow. Still, the town supported two national banks until the end of 1935. This institution had a large issue and shows 22 large size notes in the census. This example has stamped signatures.
