$50 First Liberty Loan Bond of 1917

This is the first in the series of five U.S. Government issued Liberty Loan Bonds which helped to fund America's effort in WWI. This scarce 3-1/2% bearer bond, with coupons attached to the side, features Thomas Jefferson on the left and a vignette of the Statue of Liberty on the right. The back of the bond features a majestic bald eagle with the vignette designed by Crawford of "America" whose statue is atop the dome of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC. The bond features 44 coupons and the facsimile signatures of Teehee and McAdoo. Bond is in original issued condition, however it does contain some pinholes.
