Unquestionably the most important error is this Hawaii note with the brown Treasury seal and serial numbers inverted. Harry Forman uncovered two consecutive specimens of this illustrious mistake in the 1970s. One resides tightly held in a New York collection, the other is here. Bowers and Merena sold the other example for $5,995 from a fixed price list in June 1988. Quite a princely sum for any error then, but certainly worth the cost.
