There are four notes listed under Kansas City $5,000s with the best being a '65' that realized $218,500 about six years ago. There is only one other listed as UNC but without details. This note brought $69,000 in September 2011 when graded XF 40 by PCGS. It is now graded PCGS XF 45 Apparent; both of the two circs are shown as 'apparent'. This note has an excellent appearance and only an expert will see the flaws. The $5,000 notes have long been considered the greatest of rarities among authorities on high denomination notes. The fact that to date I can only find 59 listings of $5,000 notes in Track & Price is not gospel but it shows the overall rarity of this series. PCGS notes: minor edge restoration.
