An attractive, reasonably well centered example of a serial #00000001 note. It may come as a surprise to many, but the BEP regularly "smears" the serial number of many #00000001 notes. The reason isn't totally clear but we've heard the same story several times, that when the block letters are changed, necessitated by a roll over to a new #1 serial number, the BEP presses are cleaned with a solvent, which often leaves residue on the first note printed. Hence over half of the serial #00000001s we have seen over the years display at least some evidence of smearing on either the green and/or black ink on the face of the note. This example is lovely.
