This note is not an AU as is indicated in the census but is a well stamped VF/XF note with purple signatures. Pinckneyville is the county seat of Perry County. It is named for Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, an early American diplomat and presidential candidate. It was organized in 1857, although the first store was built by 1827, supporting the small town.
