Any $500 Gold Certificate in uncirculated is a rare item, but one that meets the exacting standards of a PMG 65 EPQ must truly be special. These have never been easy to locate, but in the past collectors always assumed they could buy a Gem when they were ready for it. Now, as the PMG and PCGS population reports begin to fill up, it is becoming clear that only a few lucky collectors will be able to own such an item. To date, PCGS has graded only five uncirculated $500 Golds (none higher than 65) and PMG has topped out currently with six. The note we offer here shows unmistakable original embossing as well as a fabulous gold overprint. Worth whatever it brings and likely to set a new level for a "65 EPQ".
