This note has nicely purple stamped signatures. One of 32 large notes recorded and one of the top pieces known. Elgin was founded in 1835 on the Fox River between Galena and Chicago. It was the home of the Elgin Watch Company and the Borden Milk Company, to which Elgin owes much of its success.
