The First National Bank of Jacksonville was chartered on September 6, 1864 and it was liquidated on November 30, 1898. There are just 14 large notes reported including two uncut sheets, those sheet are a #1 $1-1-1-2 and a #1 Brown Back $10-10-10-20. In addition to those there is a $20 Original Series #1. This Illinois Type Set includes this serial #1 signed by Stephen Durang, President and Hiram Watson, Cashier. Records show 446 $10 Original Series but only nine are serial #1, and none are graded higher than this beauty. This note is not the most valuable but the quality is excellent. The note was purchased from Stack's in 1990. This is the first available at auction for a very long time and it could easily take as long for the next to appear. From the Illinois Type Set.
