Lot #3104 - Boscobel, First NB, 1771

National Bank Notes > Wisconsin

Boscobel, First NB, 1771
Fr. 399 $5 Original
Grade: VG/Fine
This is one of the rarest notes in Chet's entire collection, and in my opinion, in contention for the most desirable. Only First Charters were printed for a period of eight years, whereupon the bank was liquidated in 1879. Just $745 remained outstanding in 1910. Two other pieces are known, both Aces, yet there is no record of any note being offered publicly in the last several decades. B.M. Coates signed as President and the Cashier appears to be H.A. Mayer. The serial number on this note is 2097-A and is incorrectly listed in both Kelly and Track & Price as #209 due to the last digit being hard to see. A tremendous rarity that will bring all that it is worth.
Current Bid: $ 9,500.00

Estimate: ($ 10,000.00 - $ 20,000.00)
