EXTREMELY RARE SELMA $100

National Bank Notes > California

Selma, First NB, P5395
Fr. 571 $100 1882DB
Grade: VF
A wonderful rarity that has never before been available to the collecting fraternity. This small Fresno County bank was chartered in 1900 and issued only $50 and $100 notes until it received Plainback notes in 1920. While there are six large notes reported from this bank, this is the only $100 example known to exist. It is a very attractive and problem-free note that bears great pen signatures of W.C. Freeland, cashier, and M. Sides, president. This is a very rare type for California, as only 18,000 notes were issued statewide, with few survivors. An extremely important California type from a very rare bank. Don't be shy if you expect to take this note home tonight!
