This $100 Red Seal is a very rare type for the state and indeed for the country as a whole. In all, there are just 118 $100 Red Seals reported with fewer and fewer new discoveries added as the years progress. For the state of Wisconsin, the rarity is well recognized. Just three such examples are known; this First National Bank of Neenah, the serial #1 Germania National Bank of Milwaukee and a second Germania National Bank with a higher serial number. The note we offer here looks to me like the second finest of the three. This is a note of great importance, especially to anyone attempting to assemble a complete type set of Wisconsin nationals. Fortunately, it is also a lovely signed example. Rare as an individual bank too, as just a single other note, a $100 1902 Dateback, is known on this second title.
