Lot #3527 - South Milwaukee, NB, 4893

National Bank Notes > Wisconsin

South Milwaukee, NB, 4893
Fr. 485 $10 1882BB
Grade: VF/XF
This institution was chartered in 1893 and lasted a brief four years. It only issued 1,077 sheets of $10 and $20 Brownbacks before closing its doors in 1897. By 1910, just $1,090 of the $53,850 total issue remained outstanding. Only three notes are reported from this bank. We offered a similar grade example in 2005 which brought $14,950. That note is now firmly ensconced in a major Wisconsin collection. One must look back to the fabulous Grinnell Collection sold by Barney Bluestone in 1946 to find the next most recent sale of a note on this bank. This problem-free example has fantastic signatures of S. (Samuel) McCord, President and E. B. Ingalls, Cashier. Another one of the trophy notes of this collection that we are proud to offer.
Current Bid: $ 6,500.00

Estimate: ($ 7,500.00 - $ 15,000.00)
