Here is a note certain to create lots of excitement amongst collectors of this popular locale. This bank issued just 4,239 sheets of $10 and $20 1875 Series notes over a 19 year period. When an accounting was taken in 1910, $2,380 was still outstanding. That would be about 144 $10 notes and 47 $20 notes, assuming an equal survival rate between the two denominations. It is a wonder this single $10 survived the intervening century. Yet it did so, and in my opinion, pretty well. The piece is evenly used with a couple of insignificant faults that are not unexpected. The margins are quite good and the pen signatures are legible. Not surprisingly, this unique bank note has never been publicly offered before tonight, at least not in the last 20 years or so. It could well be another 20 years before we see it again.
