August 1, 1854. This note was issued soon after this bank received its charter. The family that owned this bank also owned the Bank of America, both of which closed in 1858. This denomination has some neat vignettes including a portrait of President James K. Polk. The left and right margins are cut unevenly, but that is all that is wrong with this note. The attractive reddish brown back is very pretty. TN-125G10.
