The 1933 $10 Silver Certificate, the King of the Silver Certificate, is already a classic rarity as well as the crowning jewel for many collectors of small size currency. This note was previously described as: "Upon the first look at this note, one would expect a higher grade, which speaks to the aesthetic quality. From the face there is little sign of this note ever having seen circulation. The paper is bright and clean, the ink colors are vivid and even the edges and corners of the note appear sharp. A faint trace of a horizontal fold can be seen upon careful scrutiny. From the back, this fold is a little more visible, and it becomes clear that it crosses the note from edge to edge. A second very light fold is seen vertically through the center, but only upon close inspection, these placing the note in the AU category. However, as with the face, the back offers nice eye appeal with good freshness for the grade and strong color. The serial numbers and Treasury seal are embossed through as well, adding to the appeal. The centering is quite good, and though the face is slightly low, the back is nearly perfect and all margins are comfortably broad. The folds are all that keep this note from the Choice Uncirculated grade, or perhaps even finer, and as such it represents an excellent value. The 1933 $10 was printed in two series, the first commencing late in the tenure of Secretary of Treasury, William Woodin, and the second, the Series of 1933A, commencing upon the appointment of Henry Morganthal, Jr. to this office. The reported print figures for these series are 216,000 and 336,000, respectively. However, the Treasury reported the destruction of 368,000 $10 Silver Certificates in 1935, which action was further reported to have included some part of the print run of both issues of 1933. Since no 1933A notes have ever come to light, it has long been assumed that the complete print figure of 336,000 was lost to the shredder. As for the presently offered note, every appearance of a 1933 $10 is cause for some fanfare, as appearances are relatively few, the issue is considered scarce in all grades, and it ranks among the most desired of all Federal currency issues, particularly among collectors of small-size notes. This appearance is thus an important opportunity for one fortunate collector to secure an example of this coveted rarity." Graded About UNC 50 by PMG.
