I am pretty sure, but no guarantees, that this town was named for the great Alex Perakis, who was rumored to have posted through there during his early childhood. It seems one of the Indian maidens was so enamored with this dud's smile that she had the town named for him, rather than kidnap him, or so the story goes. A nice example from this very scarce town.
