Fr. 1801-1 $10 1929T1 #1 Uncut Sheet
Grade:
Gem CU +
Exceedingly rare uncut sheet of #1s from Tennessee, a notoriously rare state for both serial #1s and uncut sheets. Johnson City has a storied history, with an especially fabled era during Prohibition when bootlegging, alcohol distribution, gambling and prostitution, earned the town the nickname 'Little Chicago'. More recently Travis Tritt and Old Crow Medicine Show immortalized about this town in pop music. We removed this sheet from the hard plastic holder it has reposed in for generations. It is utterly free of handling, with razor sharp corners, and a 'fresh from the press' look. Although one fortunate bidder will own this sheet tonight, there will be (an immediately) profitable temptation to satisfy the urges of six collectors. We have not seen a Tennessee serial #1 under $5,000 in years.
