This was one of the state's earliest charters and Lewiston is in Androscoggin County. This bank was around for the entire issuing period for national bank notes, a rare accomplishment. There are 79 large notes reported and only two are $20 Red Seals. This example is pen signed by F.H. Packard and Templeton. It has some very light toning but is a decent note and a bargain Maine Red Seal.
