$1,000 Boston Clearing House Certificate

This $1,000 certificate was payable on demand after 30 days, in Legal Tender notes. The bank that presented this certificate would receive the principal with the interest going to the Boston Clearing House Association. These are quite scarce and are also seen in green. They were punch-cancelled, as was this example. However, some restoration was done around the edges, and the punch-cancel was fixed at the same time. The note is much more appealing now and is an interesting paper money item for collectors of high denomination bills.
