Fr. 1175a $20 1882 Triple Signature
Grade:
PMG VG 10 Net
Twenty-eight documented for this extremely rare variety bearing the counter-signature of Thomas C. Acton, Assistant Treasurer. This particular note appears in a thirty-year-old catalog with the comment _the face appears to exceed Fine standards_, an observation with which we fully concur. PMG has assigned a grade of VG 10 Net to this wholly pleasing note. There is a short split at the left end with pinholes in the center of the note when candled. Besides that, the color, especially on the front, is far nicer than what the grade would suggest. Opportunities to purchase triple signature notes come few and far between with only three or so offered in a given year. There are only two CUs; one brought $138,000 a few years ago. We sold a very attractive XF back in 2006. While this note is not as nice as either of those, neither will it cost anywhere near as much. A legitimate balance of rarity, eye-appeal, and value.
