Fr. 1175a $20 1882
Grade:
PMG VG 10 Net
One of only 28 documented for this extremely rare variety bearing the counter signature of Thomas C. Acton, the Assistant Treasurer. This particular note appears in a thirty year old catalog with the comment the face appearance exceeds Fine standards , an observation with which we fully concur. PMG has assigned a grade of VG 10 Net to this wholly pleasing note. There is a short split at the left end with pinholes in the center of the note when it is candled. Besides that, the color, especially on the front, is far nicer than what the grade would suggest. Opportunities to purchase Triple signature notes come few and far between with only three or so offered in a given year. There are only two CUs; one brought $138,000 a few years ago. We sold a very attractive XF back in 2006. While this note is not as nice as either of those, neither will it cost anywhere near as much. A legitimate balance of rarity, eye-appeal and value.
