PCGS calls this an Additional Overprint and I suppose that s just as good as a description as I could come up with. Very clearly, there are two different serial numbers: F11289271C and F 09691274C. This is easiest to see on the right serial number, but the double printing is also visible on the other green and black overprint elements. This mostly reminds me of the also unique, and very similar $20, that we sold for $16,100 in November, 2007. That lot saw very spirited book and floor bidding. That $20 was a few grades lower, but the doubling was darker and more pronounced. As such, I don t believe that this note will bring anywhere near as much, but I could be wrong. Also, with the double-printed $2s now bringing around $20,000 whenever they re offered (and there are at least two dozen), this unique example could be a steal. We ll estimate it cheap and see where the bidders take it.
