The Bart reference lists only nine mismatched serial numbers on all large size notes from 1861 to 1923. This is one of two with a three-digit mismatch; none have more. While many mistakes tend to be rather sublime, this mismatch jumps right out. Even the John Whitney Walter Collection did not contain a large size mismatched serial number. There is an expertly closed tear, wholly within the body of the note. We have never before offered a large size mismatched serial number for sale.
