June 1838. A rare Houston scrip note signed by A.H. Phillips, Treasurer, and printed for the Texas Steam Mill Company. This company was chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1837 in Harris County. This mill specialized in lumber milling, only grinding meal when needed. These notes are quite rare and previously unseen in this denomination.
