This bank was chartered in 1863 and liquidated in 1882, then took charter #2714 which was used until 1929 when it changed again. This is one of six notes reported from this charter. It is well used but has never been offered publicly. There was a VG $5 that realized over $12,000 in the DeGood Collection in serious bidding. This is the state's earliest National Bank and those chartered under #100 are highly collected. There are four $5s and a single $1 known from this desirable bank and an important example of National Bank history. From the Louis Van Belkum Collection.
