This Confederate anomaly is listed in the 2008 Edition of Collecting Confederate Paper Money by Pierre Fricke, and given a rarity 12 + rating, indicating only a little over one-half dozen pieces are known. It was a Series 1 note that was changed by hand to read 'Series 4'. It is unknown why or by whom this was done, but it makes for an interesting Confederate rarity. Today's bidders will assign the value, but the Fricke reference gave a 2006 price point of $55 for a F/VF example. This piece is well margined all around and one of the best condition notes seen of this rarity. No problems save for a tiny missing corner tip.
