National Bank Notes > Maryland
Cambridge, Dorchester NB, E4085
Fr. 644 $20 1902DB
Grade:
VF
Dorchester County lies on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and Cambridge was the only town in the county to issue notes. This bank was only in business from 1889 to 1915 and issued just two different sheets, 1,767 sheets of one $50 and one $100 Brownback (which is the other surviving note) and 3,496 sheets of the $10-10-10-20 1902 Datebacks, and this is the other known note. The $100 sold eight years ago and it remains under tight control. This note has excellent pen signatures of the vice president and cashier, and it is attractive and problem-free. It grades VF, probably a "20", maybe a "25", no better, no worse. Old and new collectors should be pleased with the opportunity to acquire such a rarity.
