Can t help but think of Michael Crawford wearing his demi-mask in the classic Broadway musical. This special error consists of an obstructed print with a retained fragment. In this case, the obstructing object is a wad of masking tape that adhered to the portrait area, bisecting the face and cleaving it into right and left halves. When lifted, the area underneath is blank, giving rise to the Phantom reference. We ve never seen anything quite like it and neither has our error specialist.
