Circa 1871. A wonderful ad note for the Cadiz Circus. Cadiz, Wol'sy, August 9th. G.G. Grady was a clown, proprietor and manager of the G.G. Grady's Old Fashioned Circus from 1866 to 1879, based in Kenton, Ohio. One of Grady's acts was riding a horse bareback while playing a violin. The show was one of the earliest to travel with a balloon ascensionist as a free act. In mid-July, 1874, it was attached by the sheriff in Shelbyville, Illinois, and the property was advertised for sale. It was out with Grady & Beatty's Circus, 1879; the following year it was given sideshow performances at political meetings in Indiana. Grady died at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana at age 64, after having retired from business about three years prior.
