Bethel is a one National Bank town located near Marines Western border in Oxford County. This bank was chartered very late in Maine National Bank terms, not being in business until 1905. During the ensuing years a total of about 3,000 sheets of large size notes were printed, and this is the second large note known to have survived. There is even circulation and no real problems, but the signatures are close to completely gone. Prospects for another could well reach another half-century.
