This note appears in an earlier census as VF, during times when grading was much stricter. One of the down falls of third party grading is the assignment of net grades. Despite well-balanced, generous margins, rosy-red seal, and a full VF appearance, the grading service has elected to downgrade this note to Fine 12 NET with the comment of major restoration for some well executed scattered repairs that are evident to skilled eyes. While no one can deny either the presence of the restorations, nor their benefit to the long term preservation of this historically important note, such comments do seem harsh. We sold the finest known as part of the Rickey Collection in 2005 for $92,000. This note, while not the equal to that, does offer an opportunity to add the rare Monroe design to your collection for a more modest sum.
