Collectors have been waiting for this note to return to the market since it was discovered in a cash hoard deposited in a Joplin, Missouri bank in the late 1980s. Our consignor obtained this note because his phone call to the dealer that obtained it beat his competitor at the time by about two minutes. The note is an evenly used example with a few insignificant faults. It was fortunate to have survived, since the notes that were not pulled by the tellers and bank employees were sent on to the Federal Reserve for destruction. The bank issued just 356 sheets of small size and closed in 1931, which helps to explain why this note is so impossibly rare.
