Richmond Virginia Treasury Note $50

The 1861 Series of Virginia Treasury Notes is considered the first true war issue with two different acts authorizing $7,000,000 in various denominations between $5 and $500. These notes accrued 6% interest for 12 months on denominations of $20 and above. These were printed by Hoyer & Ludwig and there were 6,150 $100s issued by late 1863; only 83 were outstanding. The $50 had 12,300 printed with 268 outstanding in 1863, over 150 years ago. This is a great Virginia rarity dated August 13, 1861. Fully signed and issued with serial #1019.
