San Antonio, Woods NB, S7316
Fr. 613 $10 1902RS
Grade:
VG/Fine
A well used, but evenly circulated Red Seal from one of Texas' interesting family named banks. This note is signed by John Woods, President and W.F. Woods, Cashier, keeping it in the family. For some reason this town has had a number of successful family titled banks over the years. Those banks include: Lockwood National Bank, Woods National Bank, Groos National Bank and Frost National Bank, which is still around after nearly 140 years in business. The Woods Bank was chartered in 1904 and lasted only until 1907, issuing just 5,942 sheets of Red Seals. It is hard to find a tougher bank and a Red Seal to boot. Included is a note from Philpott with a $20 price tag!
