This is the first star to be reported from the Chicago district on this scarce Federal Reserve variety. Back plate #204 was finished late and put into service long after it should have been used and retired. Even notes in the 1934-B series have been seen with the #204 back plate. For the 1934-A series, only two other districts have had stars reported, that being New York and a single Richmond star. Just to find a regular issue note with the #204 back plate is difficult enough, but with a star serial number, that is truly an unlikely occurrence. Great margins and originality. Graded XF 45 PPQ by PCGS.
