Here is a wonderful example of survival. This bank lasted from 1875 to 1912 before liquidation. Only 17 large notes are reported and this note, which was no doubt saved by Jonas Bennett, President or M.C. Bennett, Cashier for posterity. Well, it's a miracle that 101 years after the bank closed it remains in such lovely condition. There are not many #1 Original $5 notes in the census; seventeen if I remember right.
