$500 1928* G Chicago
Grade: PCGS Apparent XF 40 Net     PCGS
We are proud to offer the finest $500 1928 FRN star yet known to exist. The note is bright and well-centered, although during its short circulating career it did acquire a short tear at the top. That tear has been expertly sealed and is virtually invisible. Currently, only five stars are known for this entire 1928 Series, making the $500s even more rare than the $1,000 1928 FRN stars. For years, only three of these stars were known to us, and then in the last few months a Cleveland example and this Chicago note both surfaced independently. Don't take that to mean that more are on the way however. More likely, is that we've seen the last for awhile. Expect to see serious competition for this rarity, since countless collectors have this note on their want list. If the population doubled tomorrow, there still wouldn't be enough stars to satisfy the demand. Graded Apparent XF 40, repaired edge tear at top center, by PCGS.
