A Territorial from the state capital and the first bank chartered in the entire Southwest. There are 24 Territorials known on this bank, so they are not rare, but this is the only $20 Brown Back. A near perfect note for the grade with excellent centering, good color and signatures of R.J. Palen, President and John H. Vaughn, Cashier. This note was obtained by Roman Latimer in 1973 from Bob Medlar. Roman always called this his dollar down and a dollar a month note. Bob allowed Roman to give him a down payment and pay off the rest when he could. A month after Roman obtained it from Bob, he offered me $1,000 more than he paid for it as he wanted to go after Brown Backs from all States and Territories.
