A rare opportunity to acquire this excessively rare $50 Interest Bearing Note that is one of eight reported. All are in a tight grade range from Fine to VF, with latitude for numerical grading. This is a two-year note payable with 5% interest and is dated April 20, 1864. These were used to pay for the Civil War and they were redeemed, not saved. Certainly an important part of U.S. fiscal history. I sold a VF in 2000 and 2005 for just in excess of $60,000. In a different market this could easily reach six figures.
