There are two national banks in this Hopkins County community. The Farmers National Bank is occasionally available, but this Morton National Bank is far more rare. It's a Red Seal only bank that was in business for less than a year and issued only 1,054 sheets. No wonder only three notes are reported. This example is gorgeous, exhibiting only the faintest of folds. It was last seen in a 1984 Hickman sale and given how pretty it is, the new owner could hold onto it for another 25 years. The namesake of the bank, W.C. Morton, signed in pen as president. The cashier's signature of W.J. Ruby is equally attractive. A winner of a note all around. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
